Here are some top 5 cannons in India which makes a great history.
 

 1) JAIVANA

     The Jaivana was made by Jai Singh II in 1720 and this cannon required four elephants to make it swirl around its axis and make point towards enemy. Jaipur is the administrator of Jaigarh Fort during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Muhammad Shah. Now this canon is located at the Jaigarh FortJaipur, India.Cannon belonged to the State of Jaipur having 280 mm iron ball.

 The cannon can fire a 50 kgs stone ball using hundred kgs of gunpowder which is much more. in 1720 Jaivana was fired only once as a test by Raja Jai singh 2. Cannon's barrel was decorated with flowers, ducks elephant and peacocks. Weight of this cannon is 50 tons. Cannon have 776 mm long elevating screw was used for raising and lowering the barrel when using this. Jaivana has wheels diameter are 1.37 m. Very powerful and big cannon.

 2) MALIK-E-MAIDAN

     The great cannon Malik-E-Maidan also called Burj-E-Sherz, which is placed at  fort on its western ramparts between two bastions .This cannon is 1.5 m in diameter, 4.45 metres long with a 700 mm bore. The cannon weighs 55 tonnes and is one of the largest medieval guns made. This cannon belonged to the state of Bijapur which is 700 mm calibre and Made in 1549, Cannon was made by Muhammad bin Hussain Rumi. A example of Bombardment type cannon, The cannon was in the armoury of king Ibrahim Adil Shah II.  Malik-e-Maidan also called as ‘King of the Arena’.

 3) DALA MARDANA OR DAL MADAN KAMAN

       The Dal Madal was made by Jagannath Karmakar. During the reign of Bir Hambir the Dala Madal, It is one of the largest bored cannons even made in the world at that time, demonstrating the skill of artisans of that time. The meaning of "Dal Madal" is destruction of enemy. Dala Mardana belonged to the Bishnupur kingdom,India. Cannon can handle 286 mm iron ball shot. Cannon was made in 1565 by Jagannath karmakar king of Bishnupur.

 4) RAJAGOPALA BEERANGI

     The Rajagopala Beerangi was casted by Vikas Naikwade in the year 1620, this cannon is bombard cannon type.  In 1650 Cannon is belonged to the Thanjavur king and also used by him. This cannon was made at Kollamendu near Thanjavur and joined the armoury in 1620 year.In 17th century forge-welded iron cannon is mounted at keela Alankam in Thanjavur by Beerangi medu.

The cannon is one of the biggest in the world, four times longer than single human. It is great size and volumes of the metallurgical skill of the people in 17th. The cannon has been made using Danish technical skills, Cannon weight is 26 tones and carrying 22 kg. It is forge-welded and has not been made by casting, cannon is 400 years old. It was mounted in 1620 when Raghunatha Nayak was the King of Thanjavur.

 5) JAHAN KOSHA

      The Jahan Kosha also called as Great Gun. Made by Janardan It is placed in the Topkhana quarter in the town of MurshidabadWest Bengal in India. This 286 mm iron ball shot cannon joined the powerful artillery at Murshidabad in West Bengal in 1637 YEAR. The cannon is made of eight metals like silver, gold, lead, copper, zinc, tin, iron and mercury it is very heavy and powerful cannon and also costly.

The cannon weight is 7 tons. cannon is 17 feet and 6 inches in length and 3 feet in width which is very long. The circumference of mouth is more than one foot or one and half foot. In order to fire ,needed 17 kg's of gunpowder. The bore of cannon is approximately 6 inches so great.The Karmakars of Bengal are traditionally blacksmiths but Janardan and his brother Jagannath were dedicated gunsmiths. Under the instructions of Hara Ballav Das of dhaka Janardan made this gun. This gun was named at Dhaka when Shah Jahan was the Mughal emperor.

-Cannon of Iron balls and shot came in the 16th century as a switch from stone balls to smaller but more effective iron projectiles with full swing and cover large area.
-During the Industrial Revolution cannon of explosive shells came. The explosive shells came with the Paixhans Guns which in metallurgy led to a development of powerful guns, Breakthrough in industrial technology and experiments.
